Martin Wellhoeffer to be Member of MAHLE Group Management Board

  • Martin Wellhoeffer succeeds Wilhelm Emperhoff, who is to retire on April 30, 2023.
  • Wellhoeffer, currently EVP Sales of the Group, will head the Mechatronics and Electronics business unit as Management Board Member from May 1, 2023.
  • Supervisory Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Heinz K. Junker: “The Mechatronics and Electronics business unit is playing a key role in the Group’s transformation to e-mobility.”
  • Dr.-Ing. Roger Busch is to be the new EVP Sales of the Group. 

Martin Wellhoeffer is to be the member of the MAHLE Group Management Board responsible for Mechatronics and Electronics. The 44-year-old, who holds a degree in automotive engineering, has worked for MAHLE for almost 20 years, most recently as Corporate Executive Vice President Sales and Application Engineering. He is to succeed Wilhelm Emperhoff, who is retiring. Dr.-Ing. Roger Busch is to be the new Corporate Executive Vice President Sales and Application Engineering.

“Thanks to his many years with MAHLE, Martin Wellhoeffer knows the company inside out and will master his new tasks outstandingly well as a graduate in automotive engineering,” said Prof. Dr. Heinz K. Junker, Chairman of the MAHLE Supervisory Board. “The Mechatronics and Electronics business unit is playing a key role in our Group’s transformation to e-mobility.” Electrification is a major strategic area for MAHLE. The company is focusing especially on the development of electric drive systems and charging technologies for electric vehicles.

“On behalf of the boards of MAHLE, I would like to thank Wilhelm Emperhoff for more than a decade of dedicated work for the Group. He has my best wishes for the next stage in his life,” the Supervisory Board Chairman added. Emperhoff headed the business unit since it was founded in 2020. Previously he had been the Management Board Member responsible for Filtration and Engine Peripherals for seven years.

Martin Wellhoeffer has spent his entire career to date with the MAHLE Group. After completing his degree in automotive engineering, he joined  MAHLE as a trainee in sales in 2004 and was then responsible for a number of major customers for several years in various positions including key account manager. In 2015, he became Head of Group Strategy and Sales Planning. Wellhoeffer has been Corporate Executive Vice President Sales and Application Engineering and a Member of the Management Committee of MAHLE since 2019.

Martin Wellhoeffer’s successor will be Dr.-Ing. Roger Busch (50). “Roger Busch has proven system expertise in vehicle drives and thermal management and many years of experience with our customers throughout the world. MAHLE will take the next steps towards the mobility of the future with him,” said Arnd Franz, Chairman of the Group Management Board and CEO of MAHLE.

Roger Busch started his career with Robert Bosch GmbH. In 2015, he became Managing Director of the former Bosch Mahle Turbosystems Joint Venture. Busch joined the MAHLE Group in 2019. As Vice-President, he has been responsible for the Compressors Profit Centre and most recently for product development in the Thermal Management Business Unit.
